Taken from the Malaysian term for "inspiration", our first kit for 2009 is INSPIRASI. January's kit is a bit different, a twist in choices of patterns and colors and varying embellishments.

In a couple of days we will be celebrating the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Ox. Said to be the year of Harvest, we reap what we sow. What other way to plant the seeds of creativity than with an SA Kit :-)

Hi everyone! Before I go on with my new year greetings, please forgive me for not posting the winners for our Anniversary challenge and prepping our newsletter. With all the holiday rush I didn't have enough computer time , please do watch out for our announcements and email soon.

On to more things, like the new year!!!! As always Studio Azul will do it's very best to bring you the best kits at affordable prices, more challenges and tips to make the most out of your kits. On a personal note, I don't think i've practised my scrapping skills as much as making our annual family album. It's a TRUE BLUE month of November!

I thought I would never get this post up and ready, but I just had to because
this month is a truly True Blue month as
Studio Azul turns 1!
Before I go on I would like to say a big HUGE Thank You to
all of our customers, to our wonderful DT's Au, CV and Nita and of course a shout-out to
my former partner and still our
avid supporter Mia Caniza.

We did it! The Philippines first kit club has surpassed the 12 month mark!!!

Your kits will contain an ID/Luggage tag, therefore, using your November, True Blue Kit make ONE (1) Layout with a COMPLIMENTARY Tag.

Requirements:
1) Make ONE (1) 12x12 or 8 1/2 x 11 layout with your November, True Blue Kit
2) Traditional only
3) Both layout and tag must contain not less than 90% of materials included in the True Blue Kit.
4) Your tag doesn't have to be a part of your layout.
5) You may do as you please with your tags, alter it inside and/or out.
6) Your tags also came with loops, it is a MUST you have an attachment of some sort to your tags and it doesn't have to be the loop we provided.
7) Email your layouts and tags to studio_azul@yahoo.com with subject heading :

8) Please send all emails no later than DECEMBER 15th, 2008, 11:59pm, Manila Time.

Note:
For clarity's sake, according to Websters (please refer here) Complementary is defined as:

1 : relating to or constituting one of a pair of contrasting colors
that produce a neutral color when combined in suitable proportions

Keeping in line with our theme, make an ALL BLUE LAYOUT.

Requirements:

Looking back the past couple of weeks, personally, I found things to be quite hectic. The traffic seems to be getting worse and for some reason, errands just pile one on top of another. Sometimes I just forget to stop and breathe.

What I particularly love about the kit this month are the calming colors, the neutral tones, the browns and cool yellows. So above all the hubbub and the rushing to and from wherever we have to be, I hope that when you sit down and play with this months kit don't forget to pause and take it all in. . . what or whom you are grateful for, it may be something very special or something very simple. And remember to just chill :-)

Before anything, I would like to greet
the original Blue Lady, Mia Caniza
a belated Happy Birthday!

One happy Saturday evening, Mia held a Blue Ladies crop and I was witness to the speedy hands of our resident DT, Christine V! I'm sorry, but now i can say, i really am not Worthy! hi CV :-) I spent the whole evening completing an itty, bitty 6x12 layout and CV astounds us all with 3, count them, THREE 12x12 LO's. *sigh*

Humble that she is, she keeps on saying she's fast because she scraps simply. I beg to differ :-)

And our dear AU, who says she's been mojo-less, again, the LO's speak for themselves. Au has been bitten by the photo bug lately, but that didn't drain her creative juices, as you'll see below. Not the mention the vibrant photos!

Coming up with a name for Studio Azul kits takes some looking and some staring, and more looking. If the theme was obvious like our April Going Postal Kit, well that would be easy. But sometimes it's just the feel of the kit, the colors, the elements that gives us the much needed title. You just have to love how CV keeps the layout simple and fuss free yet chock full of photos and memories. It's ingenious how she incorporated smaller chipboards to mount photos within the album itself. I'm almost afraid to ask how fast she did this one, after all this lady makes a LO in 3 minutes and a LO before going to work! *sigh* we should all be lucky :-) In the meantime, I guarantee this is totally DOABLE, the speed, well is something we all just have to work with LOL

New Beginnings . . .

Dear Studio Azul Members and Friends,

Since it's inception, Studio Azul was our baby, something brewing in the backs of our scrapbook-ridden minds.

Mia and I met through Scrapbukan's National Scrapbooking Day celebration, and from then on we have become partners and more so, good friends. Mia, as you all know is the information desk of every LSS in Manila LOL :-) and the creative brains behind Studio Azul. She has been eating and breathing scrapbooking, which is no surprise that her creative growth will go far beyond Studio Azul. Mia has alot of surprises up her sleeves in the next few months, and because of this new growth she can no longer be a partner of Studio Azul.

For our members, despite this slight change I promise you we will continue to bring you more and more yummy kits every month. Don't worry, she didn't leave us hanging :-) she has your kits planned and ready to go almost all until next year! How's THAT for a turn over hehe

Studio Azul will still use the same email address, the same procedures and requirements. So it's no hassle to you, our members.

Oh, and don't worry Mia's not going too far . . . that little shriek at the sight of a new product at the nearest LSS or hearing her happily chatting away with newbies (note, nang B.I. on the latest must-haves!). . . you'll know she's around alright :-)

But most of all, she will always be part of Studio Azul.

Then KITS are you answer and KIT CLUBS is definitely the way to do it.

With the growing demand for kit clubs abroad, more and more Filipino scrappers have been subscribing to kit clubs often based in the United States. With the cost of shipping and cost of the kits themselves which are also at the mercy of the US$ dollar exchange rates, it will surely set you back more than php1,000.

We've been kit club subscribers (albeit kit addicts!) ourselves and have always wanted good quality and affordable kits locally. Seeing the opportunity to serve both newbies, veteran scrappers, budgeted and sky's the limit scrappers; gave birth to STUDIO AZUL, the Philippines FIRST scrapbook kit club.

What exactly is KIT CLUB anyway?
Pretty much a KIT CLUB is a monthly membership, where you receive a PRE-coordinated kit complete with papers and embellishments within a given time period. More often a kit includes papers, embellishments and other supplies that can help you create completed scrapbook layouts.

What do I benefit from being a Studio Azul Kit Club member?

Studio Azul is a MID-monthly kit club, so every 3rd WEEK of the month, you will get the following items:

- our monthly kits are ONLY php950.00 per month for a 3-month subscription

-you can make at LEAST 4 layouts per kit, more if you're in the mood :-)

- at least 7-8 pieces of imported and signature/branded scrapbook papers. And we make sure we give you at least 2 manufacturers for variety.

- coordinating embellishments (embellishments may vary from chipboard, stickers, buttons, ribbons, brads, flowers, etc.)

- a monthly stamp either branded stamps or exclusive to Studio Azul

- events, new techniques and challenges to get your mojo going

I'm a newbie scrapper, won't I have a difficult time using the kits?
As much as all the kits come pre-coordinated, we still think of its usability. We do our best to make sure its friendly both to newbie and experienced scrappers alike; The papers down to the embellishments match, whether by style, theme or color. Pre-coordinated kits also takes out the guess work of spending too much time deciding what matches with what. Once your kits arrive, you just have to sit down and start scrapping. Ofcourse, we made sure that we still leave a lot of room for you to explore your creativity.

If i'm an experienced scrapper, will I still be challenged?
As an experienced scrapper, oftentimes you look towards growing with your craft. Sometimes we unconsciously stick to our usual styles, even though we would like to explore other techniques such as distressed, shabby chic, graphic, boheme, etc. Kits come pre-coordinated, but the way you use all the supplies is up to you. This forms a new challenge since you will be working with different styles and themes every month. If you always leaned towards flowery and very feminine layouts, your kits will definitely vary from flowery to shabby to even funky! Kits are a great way to stretch your creativity.

Why should I buy STUDIO AZUL kits when I can buy kits abroad?
Two words, shipping and cost.
Kits in the US are usually around $30 a month, with shipping starting from $20. Roughly, you'll be spending around $50 a month or over php2,000 a month!

Can I just buy ONE kit?
Sure! Members (3-month subscribers) avail of their MAIN kits at php950.00. However, for non-members or ONE-TIME Purchases, the MAIN kits are sold at php1,000.00.

What are ADD-ONS?
These are ADDITIONAL SETS of either cardstock,projects or another set of kits that COORDINATE with the MAIN KIT. There are NOT included in the monthly membership fee, and the prices are the same for members and non-mebers alike. But just like the main kit, STOCKS ARE LIMITED. We will however, indicate if items have been sold out and how many are in stock. Add-Ons are NOT a regular monthly offering, it will depend on the supplies available.

Can I skip a month?
Unfortunately, the essence of a kit club is to commit to your subscription date so whatever kit is available that's what you will receive. You can opt for a one time purchase as long as there are still kits available.

Can I receive emails of the kits before they are issued?
One of the fun things with a kit club is the anticipation, so it would defeat the purpose if we emailed photos of the kits to a select few. We post SNEAK PEEKS when we can of the upcoming kit and post the kit as a whole every 15th of the month.

What's a Sneak Peak?
It's a teaser of our upcoming kits, to give you an idea of the colors and theme without giving too much away. . . after all, part of being in a kit club is the anticipation!

How do I apply for a membership?
Please be advised that in order to reserve a kit you MUST do the following:
1. Send us an email at studio_azul@yahoo.com with the heading "KIT RESERVATION"
2. Indicate in your email whether you would like a single kit purchase or a 3-month kit subscription.
3. We will then respond to your email to confirm.

We hope you understand that we can NOT accept reservations through any other means of communications. We are doing so that we can properly tally the subscriptions and purchases to avoid any confusion or double reservations.

In case we have run out of kits or that membership is full we will inform you immediately and place your name in an active list in case a slot or kit becomes available.

How do I pay for my kits?
You can pay for your kits through the following options:

Option 1: Pay for your kits in cash, to be deposited in our Studio Azul BPI account

Option 2: Issue post-dated checks (ONLY for 3-month subscriptions), all checks to be post dated every 1st of the month

When is the release dates for Studio Azul kits?
Because we want to provide you with timely and up to date products, due to our incoming supplies from abroad we will be releasing your kits every 3RD WEEK of the month.

Sneak Peaks : every 15th of the month

Kits will be out by the 3rd week thereafter

How will I receive my kits?
Your kits will be shipped every 3rd week of the month. We will email you of the shipping rates PRIOR to sending it out, we will only do so with your APPROVAL. On the other hand, we can also arrange for pick-up of the kits in the Fort Bonifacio area OR you can also opt to pick up your kits if there is an upcoming EB. Again, we will confirm shipping and/or pick up via email.
